2. Zidane Denies Future Talk With players

There has been numerous reports that Real Madrid Manager Zinedine Zidane told his players he would be leaving his position at the end of the season.

However, after his side’s 1-0 win over Athletic Club on Sunday, the Frenchman denied the reports.

“How am I going to tell my players that I am leaving now when we are putting everything on the line?” he said.

“When you say things from the outside, you can say whatever you want. I am not ever going to say that to my players.

“At the end of the season we will see, but now I am in this and am focused on the last match.

“We cannot talk constantly about my future, the most important thing is the last match that we have to play.”

3. Simy sets Serie a record

Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo scored in added time to help ten-man Crotone play out a 1-1 draw against Benevento in their Serie A clash on Sunday.

It was the Nigerian’s 20th league goal of the season, making him the first Nigerian and second African after Samuel Eto’o to reach the 20 goal mark in a single season in the Italian Serie A.

4. Oshoala Sets new Champions League record

Nigeria and Barcelona Women forward Asisat Oshoala not only added to her impressive trophy cabinet in her side’s Champions League victory over Chelsea, but she also set two amazing records on the night.

Oshoala became the first-ever Nigerian to win the Women’s Champions League trophy. She also is the first player in Africa to win Europe’s coveted prize.

5. Nigeria falls to Egypt in caf championship

Enyimba lost 4-1 to Pyramids in their quarter-final first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup at the June 30 Stadium, Cairo on Sunday.

Despite taking the lead with less than a minute on the clock through Victor Mbaoma, Pyramids clawed back into the game, equalising through Ramadan Sobhi in the 15th minute.

Second-half goals from Abdallah El-Said and a brace from Ibrahim Adel helped secure a 4-1 first leg victory for last year’s runners-up.

Nigeria’s representative will now have their work cut out for them in the return leg at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba next Sunday.
