West Brom have been relegated from the Premier League after the defeat to Arsenal on Sunday night.

Sam Allardyce’s men lost 3-1 to the Gunners at the Emirates. The loss means they are now 10 points adrift of safety which is impossible to attain with only three games left to play.

Goals from Emile Smith-Rowe, Nicolas Pepe and Willian put the nail on the coffin for West Brom.

West Brom found themselves behind in less than 30 minutes into the clash at the Emirates Stadium when Emile Smith Rowe struck from close range.

Nicolas Pepe soon doubled the home side’s advantage in the 35th minute by rifling into the back of the net via the top corner.

Matheus Pereira gave the visitors hope in the second half when he converted a nice solo effort past Leno. However, their hopes of a comeback was dashed when Willian wrapped up the points with a late free kick.

The Baggies will go right back down to the Championship after just one season in the top flight. With this relegation, West Brom are now the joint-second most relegated team in Premier League history. Only Birmingham City have been relegated more times (12) than their 11 times.

Speaking to  BT Sport after the game, Sam Allardyce said: “It’s not sunk in yet, but I’m sure I’ll wake up tomorrow and realise the situation. I’m bitterly disappointed we’re not still in the fight.

“I’m not saying we would have avoided relegation but we should have been closer, we should have taken it down to the last three games, based on how we performed. The creating of chances has been there but the converting has not.

“We had [enough] time to pull it round. Our real problem was not beating the bottom-six sides when we came up against them. The results against Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City should have been bonus points.”
