Bayern Munich have been crowned Bundesliga Champions after closest rivals RB Leipzig lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Their ninth successive title was confirmed hours before they took to the Allianz Arena for their weekend fixture.

They celebrated the title in style as Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick helped them thrash Borussia Monchengladbach 6-0.

Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane were also on the scoresheet for the German giants.

However, the champions had to finish the game a man down as 18-year-old substitute Tanguy Nianzou was shown a straight red card for a nasty foul.

The title race may have been taken down to the final few games but a fun fact to note is that Bayern have led the Bundesliga table for almost every matchday of the season.

With 32 matches played, Bayern sit top of the log with 74 points. They’ve had the most wins (23) and fewest loses (4) so far in the campaign.

Bayern have also scored the most goals so far (92) and have players who top both the goal scorers chart; Lewandowski with 39 goals, and assists chart; Thomas Muller with 17 assists.

It’s been a successful season overall for Bayern. They beat Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the season, Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup and Tigres in the Club World Cup final.

What next for Bayern?

In April, Bayern announced Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann would take over on a five-year contract at the end of this season after current boss Hansi Flick said he wanted to leave the club.

Although not officially announced, it is rumoured that Flick is interested in taking over the Germany job from Joachim Low after the Euros.

The club is also going to be without David Alaba who is set to leave as a free agent at the end of the season. Rumour has it that he will sign for either Barcelona or Real Madrid.

A new face has been wrapped up in Leipzig Defender Dayot Upamecano who has chosen to join Bayern in a big-money deal.
