PSG forward Neymar Jr has signed a new contract extension that would keep him at the club till 2025.

The 29-year-old has finally put the Barcelona return rumours to bed by putting pen to paper in prolonging his stay with the Ligue 1 side.

Neymar was heading towards the final year of his contract before the renewal which made room for speculation about his future with the French Champions.

However, Neymar has signed a deal that will keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2025 by which time he will be 33 years of age.

“I’m really pleased to continue my adventure at Paris Saint-Germain. I’m very happy in Paris, and proud to be part of this squad, to work with these players, a great coach and to be part of the history of this club,” the Brazilian said after signing the contract.

“These are things that make me believe even more in this great project. I have grown as a person here, as a human being and as a player, too. So I am very happy to extend my contract and I hope to win many more trophies here.”

Neymar’s contract extension serves as some respite for PSG. The club had their hearts broken after being eliminated by Manchester City in the Champions League Semi-finals on Tuesday, losing 4-1 on aggregate.

Keeping the former Barcelona man proves their desire to keep competing at the highest level with their biggest stars.

Neymar has often stated his desire to play alongside Lionel Messi which earlier threw his renewal in doubt. But according to reports, PSG are plotting on a move to bring the Barcelona star to Paris.

They plan to not only strengthen the club but fulfil the wishes of Neymar to keep him happy at the club.
