Real Madrid vs Chelsea: All The Top Stats

It’s the Champions League semi-finals and all eyes will be on the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano where Real Madrid play host to Chelsea.

Both teams have come a long way since the group stages, defying all odds to be part of the four teams left in the competition.

Both teams, especially Madrid can boast of having the experience to know what it takes to get past this stage of the Champions League, but which team do the stats favour?

Check out who wins the title if Real Madrid and Atletico finish level on points in La Liga

Highlighted below are some of the most interesting stats from the much-anticipated fixture:

  • Real Madrid have faced Chelsea more often than any other side in all competitions without winning in their entire history, failing in all three matches (D1 L2).
  • English teams have won four of their last seven games against Spanish opponents (D2 L1) which is twice as many as in their previous 20 against them (W2 D7 L11).
  • Chelsea play their Eight UEFA Champions League semi-final, the most by an English club, while Los Blancos play their 14th semi-final, two more than any other club.
  • Chelsea have only lost the first leg in one of their seven previous UEFA Champions League semi-finals (W2 D4), a 3-1 defeat to Monaco in 2003-04. The first legs of their six semi-finals, all in which they were unbeaten, have seen just four goals scored (1 conceded).
  • The Blues have won all of their last five Champions League matches away from home this season.

The above stats seem to favour Chelsea but remember, this is Real Madrid, the most successful club in the competition in the last decade and indeed its entire history.

Predict And Win Prizes: Man City vs PSG

There is however no doubt Thomas Tuchel’s side go into the tie as favourites based on current form. The Blues have only lost once in all competitions since the former PSG boss took over at the club. And oh, he also has an impressive record against Real Madrid (W1, D3).

But in terms of the competition’s pedigree, nobody does the Champions League quite like Real Madrid. That unparrallelled level of experience will serve as an edge against their rivals tonight.
