We’re at the proverbial business end of the season and it’s make or break time for some clubs. With less than 10 games left in leagues across Europe, some clubs are already eying the title while others still have to put in a lot of work if they hope to land the season’s coveted title.
Without further ado, let’s discover who needs what to secure the bag.
England
How many points does Manchester City need to win the Premier League?
Manchester City sit top of the English Premier league table with 77 points having played 33 matches. They are 10 points ahead of city rivals Manchester United who have 67 points.
With just five games left, City could seal the title with six points which is the equivalent of two wins. Given the form Pep Guardiola’s men have been in, losing only once in their last five league games (W4), one would fancy them being more than able to manage the six points needed to clinch the title.
Man City remaining fixtures:
Crystal Palace
Chelsea
Newcastle
Brighton
Everton
Despite the slim probability of Manchester United posing a late title charge, a defiant Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says his side will not give up.
“Of course we’ll never give up,” he said in a recent interview. “Manchester United will never give up. This club has had too many great comebacks to give up. It’s in our DNA.
“Is it realistic? No, probably not. When you have a team that is so consistent as City have been, you don’t expect them to lose.”

Italy
How many points do Inter Milan need to win the scudetto?
Inter Milan find themselves at the helm of the Serie A standings and have their hopes set towards a title for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
The Nerazzurri finished runners-up last season, just a few points adrift of eventual winners Juventus.
Juve themselves are now 13 points below Antonio Conte’s men and would need a miracle to retain their title given their largely inconsistent form throughout the campaign.
Atalanta pose a greater threat to Inter’s title charge being second on the log, however, Conte’s men only need four points to secure an unassailable lead over them and thus win the title.
Germany
Who will win the league in Germany?
Bayern Munich lead the way in Germany with 71 points from 31 games played. They are seven points above second-placed Leipzig who have 64 points.
With just three games left of the campaign, Hansi Flick’s men need only a win to defend their crown for a ninth consecutive season.
Bayern Munich’s remaining fixtures:
Mönchengladbach
Freiburg
Augsburg
Question is, can anyone stop them?
Spain
Who will win the league in Spain?
This year’s La Liga campaign has been exciting and unpredictable. The title race has defied the usual two-horse race we have become accustomed to seeing.
With just three points separating the top four clubs, as many as four teams are in a position to challenge for the title.
Once upon a time in La Liga this season, Atlético Madrid were considered overwhelming favourites to win the title having led the chasing pack by a whopping 10 points and two games in hand.
But over the course of the season, Diego Simeone’s men have lost their lead and the gap has been narrowed down to two points.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, they could also relinquish top spot if Barcelona were to win their game in hand.
Sevilla on the other hand are in the mix after managing a good run which saw them only lose twice in 16 league games.
It is worthy of note that, unlike the Premier League, La Liga does not use goal difference as a tiebreaker.
If two teams are tied on the same number of points, the tiebreaker used is the head-to-head record between both sides during the course of the season.
For example, if Atlético and Real Madrid finish level on points at the end of the season, Real Madrid are crowned champions as their record against Atlético is a win and a draw.
Tiebreaker Format Across Europe’s Top Five Leagues
The next tiebreaker that would be used if two teams are still tied after using the first criterion is head-to-head goal difference. And if they are still tied after that, then the normal goal difference is used. Click here to know all about tiebreakers across other leagues in Europe.

So who is your money on?
France
Who will win the league in France?
Another interesting title race is the current Ligue One campaign. Only six points differentiate the top four with four games left.
A league recently dominated by PSG over the years could see a new winner emerge. Lille are currently top of the table with a two-point buffer. They last won the league in the 2010-11 season.
Here are the fixtures for the remainder of the season for the top four clubs:
Lille | PSG | Monaco | Lyon |
Nice | Lens | Lyon | Monaco |
Lens | Rennes | Reims | Lorient |
St-Etienne | Reims | Rennes | Nimes |
Angers | Brest | Lens | Nice |
